Accessibility Statement for Planning London Datahub
This accessibility statement applies to the Planning London Datahub website.
This website is run by Greater London Authority (GLA). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 125% without the text spilling off the screen and without content being truncated or overlapping
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- The map does not provide an alternative mechanism (ideally text based) for different groups (screen reader software users, keyboard-only users, voice recognition software users and people with low vision. At least some of the information provided by the map views is available in a data table. Users who require a text-based alternative should use the Standard Search and Query Builder tools.
- Some overlay components are not marked-up correctly so the focus is not trapped for screen readers with desktop browsers and mobile browsers.
- There is a mechanism to bypass the menu control in the header, but it does not currently work as expected.
- The visible button label "Add group" above the "Select a field" text label in the Query Builder component does not match the programmatic name "Add query condition group".
Issues affecting screen reader users
- The sortable data table for the Query results and Standard search is not is not keyboard operable, and is not identified as a button.
- The pagination controls in the "Selected layer" overlay within the map component is not marked up correctly.
- Arrow symbols in the "Selected layer" overlay within the map component are not marked-up correctly so screen reader users cannot identify thepurpose of the control.
- The amount of items and pages that are displayed when results are produced in the Query results and filters component is a status message which is not announced to screen reader software users.
Issues affecting people with low vision
- Certain text in the map component has colour contrast issues with the background colours of the page. If this is an issue, use the Standard search and Query builder tools and the data tables instead of the map.
- With the browser window width set to 1280 px and magnification at 400%, not all of the links and content is fully displayed without horizontal and vertical scrolling.

- We manually assessed all the “unique” components to determine the type of content on the page.
-
We identified a minimum representative subset of components that contain examples of the most common features, including:

- Components with text content.
- Interactive elements such as forms and content filtering.
- We conducted a manual WCAG audit on the representative subset of components.
